Customer Reviews

I own 2 of these power grips and they work under even the most strenuous of situations I can think of at any given time, on any given day. When I'm shooting, I pay little to no attention to the battery power running my Canon T3i. I'm involved in the action of the shoot and have NO time to think about my camera battery dying on me. I bough the GRIP KIT which came with four (4) generic "Canon LP-E8 batteries. These batteries are everything the name brand batteries are - bar none. These batteries, however, cost about 1/10 that of name brands. I now own SEVEN of the batteries, and have only needed to change them during a shoot ONE TIME. The power consumption of the camera and drive unit would make you believe they'd just die within minutes. I fully charged them in July just before a beach shoot. On September 3, I had to charge the two initial batteries I'd put into my power grip. I never expected them to last that long since my camera is on nearly every single day. The grip itself is a wonder. It has a clock, date and timer. Other features include wireless remote setup LONG exposure setting and more. Having two serves to hold me until I add 2-3 more Canon T3i cameras and lenses to my photography.
Want to SAVE MONEY? Don't buy the expensive power grip. This one does everything the very expensive ones will do, and will do it equally, and even better. I also found the dedicated "vertical" controls and shutter release to be very important to me. I have every control I need right at my finger tips when I need to make adjustments on the fly. There's a shutter release, thumb wheel, +/-, and other buttons right where I need them when doing portraits or action shots in the field and on location. These power grips NEVER come off of my cameras. Even replacing the battery packs is easy to do. Twist the lock, pull out the old, and slip in the newly loaded tray. The extra included NiMH/AA battery tray is also a strong addition to the unit. Not only do I have LP-E8 batteries to run my camera's full functions, I also have the ability to switch to standard or rechargeable AA batteries, simply by removing the LP-E8 pack, and inserting the AA battery tray. I've pushed nearly 1,000 pics through one battery pack, and it has yet to blink! A couple of my friends have Canon's T3 model camera and are very envious of my extremely long battery life. I tried to locate grips for their cameras, but to date, can't find anyone that makes them. Perhaps the peeps out there making my grip could muster the strength to build T3 style grips and battery packs too It's an open market for T3 camera power grips, and many photographers I know, have the standard T3 cameras. These grips are well built, durable and are very stingy on using your battery power.

3 days straight, I've put this grip through the test on my T3i. The intervalometer and timer delay have worked to perfection for 3 days straight. This is a fantastic tool for taking time lapse shots set to begin after whatever delay you want. My 16gb card fills up with RAW files well before the battery pack dies, too. Instructions are poor, so it took me awhile to figure out the programming ('long' setting can not be at zero, even if you're just shooting time lapse frames). Also, the lock button is great for preventing me from pushing buttons after I've set up the programming. 1 of my 4 batteries just blinks yellow after being in the charger, so I think it's defective and a reason I don't give this battery pack 5 stars. Only other problem is that I think I can only take a maximum of 999 shots with the intervalometer. I have no relation or ties to the seller or this product.
